About me

Hi! I'm Simon Spawforth-Jones, an educator and researcher from the United Kingdom. I am Higher Education Course Leader for Graphic Design at Leeds Arts University overseeing BA (hons) and MA Graphic Design courses.

My research interests focus on identity and self, particularly in relation to consumer cultures. I am currently writing a monograph entitled Talking with Men: Men, masculinities and the articulations of self, which explores the ways that masculinities are actively constructed through talk. I have previously published research on masculinities, media, and qualitative research methodologies. 

I specialise in teaching design theory and research classes for undergraduate and postgraduate graphic design students. At Leeds Arts University I have played an important role in developing a unique curriculum that emphasises the application of theoretical knowledge and primary research skills for effective graphic design practice.
